"Do not Honk" Urges DGSCL & The Earth Saviour Foundation

In a bid to control noise pollution levels and educate drivers against honking unnecessarily, Delhi Gurgaon Super Connectivity Limited (DGSCL) has launched a week long, round the clock, Anti Honking Campaign from December 22 to 28. The campaign is being conducted at the KM 24 toll plaza of the Delhi Gurgaon Expressway in collaboration with The Earth Saviour Foundation, an NGO, which has done extensive work in the battle against honking in Delhi & NCR.

Various awareness building activities are being conducted at the toll plaza day and night for all seven days of the Anti Honking Campaign. These include distribution of pamphlets and stickers urging commuters to think before they honk, setting up of banners and hoardings at the toll plaza, blackening out of “Horn Please” signs on commercial vehicles passing through the toll plazas using oil paints and video & photo capture of painted vehicles. 

The inauguration ceremony of the campaign was graced by Mr. Alok Mittal (I.P.S) the Joint Commissioner of Police (Haryana), High Commissioner of Namibia H.E. Mr. M.N. Kapewasha, High Commissioner of Lesotho H.E. Dr. Shabbir H. Peerbhai, the Ambassador of Egypt H.E. Dr. M.A.H. Higazy, The Minister Counselor of Peru, Mr. Carlos Alberto From the Embassy of Peru along with diplomats from Mexico, Germany, Angola and Zimbabwe.

More than 60 school students displayed “Anti Honking” and “Do not Honk” slogans and messages made themselves. In addition,  over a 100 volunteers along with the DSC Limited team and guests were present at the event. 

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Anurag Kuba, Executive Director, DSC Limited said, “ We are committed to making driving for commuters safe and stress free and the Anti Honking Campaign is an important initiative in this direction. If  drivers in Delhi and Gurgaon control their usage of horns, it would contribute to a  calmer and more pleasurable driving experience for all commuters“

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Manoj Aggarwal, CEO, Delhi Gurgoan Super Connectivity Limited said, “Noise pollution levels in major cities of India are on the rise. As the concessionaire of one of the busiest expressways in the country, we urge commuters to think of the larger picture and use their horns more sparingly. We hope that commuters on the Delhi Gurgaon expressway will contribute to these efforts.”
