Mr MS Narula, Managing Director of DSC Limited said “The latest Norweigian technology of Cantilever Construction with pre-cast segments was used to construct this road instead of the regular conventional in-situ construction process. This construction technology was adopted for the first time in India and 3 metres of progress was possible in a single day which led to significant time savings on the project. This award reaffirms our commitment to world class quality which we bring to all our projects”.
The Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) Vishwakarma Awards cover the entire spectrum of Indian Construction Industry and are given to motivate contributions of individuals and organizations in the construction domain and to promote replicable best practices in the Indian Construction Industry. The CIDC Vishwakarma Awards are inspired by the spirit of construction and creation patronized by Lord Vishwakarma, the ruling deity of the construction practices in India
About the project
The Barapulla Elevated Road constructed by DSC Limited is a split dual carriageway elevated road extending over 4.53 kms built over Delhis biggest drain - the Barapullah Nallah. It starts from Ring Road near Sarai Kale Khan in East Delhi and ends at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in South Delhi. This elevated road was constructed by maintaining the existing drain corridor without dismantling any structure within the age old nallah in order to preserve the historical & cultural heritage of the surrounding areas. This carriageway provided high speed connectivity to nearly 10,000 sportspersons during the 2010 Commonwealth Games. It reduced the travel time to reach J N Stadium from the Commonwealth village from the earlier 35 minutes to just 7-10 minutes. It continues to provide huge relief to commuters traveling from east Delhi to the central and southern parts of the city besides decongesting the Ashram and Bhairon Road crossings.
