Water Projects

Mahipalpur-Najafgarh Storm Water Drain

The first phase of the project involved the construction of a 4 km long storm water tunnel drain connecting Dwarka underpass near Indira Gandhi International Airport to Najafgarh drain by "cut and cover" method. The top surface of the drain is currently being used as a service road to serve the integrated freight complex along with other facilities planned in the area. The second phase consists of constructing a 7 kms long box drain along the periphery of the airport from Mahipalpur upto Rewari railway line. This important project makes the IGI airport complex safe from the fear of unexpected water-logging that could result in disruption in air services. It has also improved the quality of life in surrounding villages where residents live under the constant threat of water logging during monsoons.
